From Hawk’s Beak
Several weeks ago, I noticed that every time I was out in the world, I saw a hawk. Every. Single. Time. Cooper hawks, red-tailed hawks, red-shouldered hawks.
I pointed them out to my partner when we were together, him glancing up seconds after we passed the bird(s) and rarely catching sight of them.
It is truly magical to have them show up in my daily life. And I was curious.
Today, after what felt like my hundredth viewing, I decided to connect in and journey to understand why Hawk was showing up so often.
Here’s what I learned:
Hawk invites us to take in a bigger picture view and to clarify our vision for what is to become reality. Hawk brings a broader, more expansive perspective and asks us to release blinders that may create narrow and short sightedness so we can have a full picture and take responsibility for the world we’re creating.
What a powerful and timely message. As I vision for 2013 (and beyond), I am reminded to lift my gaze from the here and now of my small world, soften my heart and remember what most wants to be expressed, what magic can be woven into life. In my broader vision are those who came before us and those who are yet to be birthed. I dream up a world where all humans sit at the table as brothers and sisters and the animals, plants, and elements are invited over to play.
May we support each other– you holding my hand and me holding yours – into the future we're creating.
Wishing you the clear vision of Hawk and a courageous heart as we move toward 2013.
