Dreamworld as Teacher + Nonlinear Time

Working with Symbols and the Dreamworld
In this video (<7 min) I share a series of dreams I had about symbols and my 4 big takeaways.
One of my favorite places to journey is the dreamworld. I am grateful to have received many teachings and downloads during my dreamtime which have expanded my understanding of reality, including on symbols.
Finding a Vortex in Unexpected Places: Where Creativity Meets Mystery
This is a story about an old book that had been sitting on my shelf, collecting dust, for years, and how it became a portal, connecting me to my deceased mother.
Life’s Initiations
Life presents us with Big Life Events. Some may call them Initiations. These are the events that leave us forever changed; they mark a distinct “before” and “after” in life. Once these events happen, we know in our hearts nothing will be the same. If we are open to it, they can serve as teachers, calling us into new ways of being. If we are not ready for it, well, then there are still lessons to learn…
Lessons from the Desert
There's no hiding in the desert - the desert has a way of bringing things to the surface fast.
The Great Round: From Emptiness to Re-memberment
Sometimes in order to re-member who we are, we are dis-membered of who/what we are not. Dis-memberment, emptiness, re-memberment – so the cycle goes.
From Hawk’s Beak
Hawk invites us to take in a bigger picture view and to clarify our vision for what is to become reality. Hawk brings a broader, more expansive perspective and asks us to release blinders that may create narrow and short sightedness so we can have a full picture and take responsibility for the world we’re creating.

Honoring the Seasons: Winter = Going Deep
As the holidays overflow with opportunities to enjoy our community and connect with others, there is also a need to create space to connect with the stillness. This stillness is a resource with a never-ending supply. When we tap into that deep space, we have an endless resource of comfort, peace and strength with which to move forward.
Here are two simple ways to align with the seasons and to drop deep:
Do Limiting Beliefs Determine Your Choices?
Once we lose power, we disconnect from a part of Self. But we can also disconnect by putting so much time and energy out in the world that we never come home to ourselves. When we don’t take time to know Self, to connect to our essence, then it is easy to lose power. We move through life on autopilot with so many things calling our attention. We forget about our purpose and no longer feel our place in the universe.
Saying Yes When We Mean No: Finding Our Big Yes
The path to my big Yes wasn’t a straight one. I felt pulled in too many directions (read: I chose to give my energy to too many things), with little left to grow what meant so much to me. So I began saying no to everything. This did not necessarily serve me either, but was my path to finding my big, powerful yeses.
Negative Self-Talk: Power Vampire #2
When we experience repetitive negative self-talk, or when we are in environments where there is an abundance of psychic litter (other people’s negative thought patterns), we can lose power. Negative thoughts create their own energy and affect us, others and the environment, depending on where we send the energy. When we target ourselves with that energy, or absorb others’ thoughtforms, the misplaced energy leads to a leaking of our life force. Instant power drain!

Giving Away Our Power: Why We Do It & How To Get It Back
The first way of losing our power we explore is:
We give it away
Giving away our power is common. We give it away by:
Looking outside of ourselves for answers.
Pouring ourselves (read: our power) into our work, especially people in the helping professions.
Leaving a part of our heart behind when leaving a relationship or when a loved one passes.
Ways We Lose Our Power: Find (and Keep!) Your Center
In shamanism, we talk about being in 'right relationship' and for me, this starts with being in right relationship with self. It's a process of knowing, loving and trusting our essence (or true self), and seeking balance and harmony with how we live our life.
Why Create Sacred Space?
When I moved to San Francisco one year ago, I found myself in a cozy (read: tiny!) apartment in the heart of the city, with no space for my meditation cushion or a small, permanent altar. I felt slightly panicked. I've always had a space, even if just a corner, to dedicate to my sitting practice and a home for my sacred objects - stones, pictures, a talisman, quotes, photographs, feathers.
Transitions: How do you approach them?
Transition is a powerful time - it's the pregnant pause between letting go of one role and stepping into something new. If given attention and space, transitions can be full of magic and possibility. There's often an impulse to rush through transitions - to get to where we think we're supposed to go (I know this feeling all too well). Or we can linger in transitions, finding it difficult to move forward (also familiar to me!).
Endings: Possibility for Liberation?
In my experience, holding on to parts of myself that are no longer true, relevant or useful creates feelings of heaviness, restlessness and depression. This is usually a sign for me that something new wants to come forward, but there's no space for it with my current structures and beliefs.
Summer Solstice
Just as winter is a time to go within, summer invites us out to play. This is a time for creativity and producing, for being an active co-creator in life. We are learning to be our own authority so we can live more expansively and be true co-creators. We are the ones we've been waiting for. This is a time to identify what no longer serves and to free ourselves from old beliefs and ways of being. Offer these to the sun, allow fire to transform them!
