Negative self-talk: Power vampire #2

This is the 3rd post about ways we lose our power and how to find our center. In addition to giving away our power, we lose power through negative self-talk.

When we experience repetitive negative self-talk, or when we are in environments where there is an abundance of psychic litter (other people’s negative thought patterns), we can lose power. Negative thoughts create their own energy and affect us, others and the environment, depending on where we send the energy. When we target ourselves with that energy, or absorb others’ thoughtforms, the misplaced energy leads to a leaking of our life force. Instant power drain!

How to work with this? When you notice an unexplained change in your energy level:
  1. Pause and (compassionately) notice your thoughts. Often the thoughts in our head are habitual, programmed from an earlier time in life. It may take time to notice their presence.
  2. Ask these thoughts to be transmuted to healing energy that can be used somewhere on the planet (from Sandra Ingerman’s Welcome Home). Or find a way that feels right for you to release these thoughts. Meditate or journey on a way to release these thoughts.

Notice how different places feel for you. If you feel yourself de-energized by a particular space, then pause and take note. If you find yourself knocked off center by the energy in a space, here are ways to find your center again:
  • If you have a relationship with you spirit allies, call your allies forward for support.
  • Ingerman (Welcome Home) suggests creating boundaries by imagining yourself in a translucent blue egg, which allows you to reach out to others without allowing others' energy to penetrate your space.
  • Visualization: Inhale through the nose, exhale slowly, imagining yourself connecting to the earth. Inhale the earth energy up and feel your internal light grow with each inhale. On the exhales, push the light closer and closer to the surface of your skin, until it extends beyond the skin and encircles you with your power and light. This is a good practice to feel the extension of your own boundaries. You can always draw the light closer in to the skin's surface. Find what is appropriate for you.

Noticing how we're affected by our own thoughts and psychic litter, help us to make choices that fill us with power, rather than deplete it.
